Modern Control Technology for the Mannheim Port Lock

The State Rhine-Neckar Port Authority Mannheim is currently modernizing the control and hydraulic systems of the port lock in the industrial harbor. The goal is to ensure safe and efficient operation in the long term.
In cooperation with Kohler GmbH, Koch automation is responsible for upgrading the electrical control and automation systems. The project includes new Siemens controllers, enhanced sensor technology, and proportional and control valves for precise movement of the lock gates.
The modernization bridges existing mechanical systems with state-of-the-art automation technology. Each gate section is equipped with a new control cabinet, operator panel, and detailed visualization of all system statuses.
With these measures, the lock control system is being upgraded for greater reliability, maintainability, and energy efficiency.
